Where SMU students actually live
Saint Mary's is a compact campus at the bottom of the South End, near the Gorsebrook fields. Most students stay close, which keeps the walk to Sobey and the library short even in February. The blocks people talk about most:
- Inglis and Tower Road: the closest streets to campus, so they go quickly. You can roll out of bed and be in class in ten minutes.
- Robie and the rest of the South End: a bit more supply and you share it with Dal students, since the two campuses are barely a kilometre apart.
- Quinpool and the North End: a short bus or a longer walk, usually a little cheaper, and closer to the food and coffee on Quinpool Road.
- Dartmouth and Fairview: the budget move if you don't mind a bus across the bridge or up the hill.

A whole 1-bedroom averages around $1,539 a month per CMHC's October 2025 Rental Market Survey, so most students split a house or apartment. Getting to campus without a car
