Start with the right neighbourhood
Where you live in Halifax mostly comes down to which campus you walk to. The peninsula is small, but a fifteen-minute difference in commute matters when it's January and the hill is iced over.

- Spring Garden & Quinpool — central, walkable to both Dal and SMU, lots of apartment stock above shops. A good compromise if you split time between campuses.
- North End — closer to Dal's downtown Sexton campus, more character, generally a bit cheaper, well-connected by bus.
- Clayton Park, Fairview & Bedford Highway — where the budget is the priority and where most MSVU students end up. Cheaper rooms, longer commute.
